Designers: Barbara Harris
British-born jeweller Barbara Harris is fast gaining popularity around the world, creating sculptural and sensual pieces of contemporary and timeless jewellery. Barbara’s creations, inspired by nature and characterized by gentle, fluid lines, have captivated trend-setters in Paris, New York and London.
With a true understanding of an ancient oriental method, Barbara Harris hand carves her gemstones using high pressure water jets to create tactile sculptural pieces of wearable art, with each stone selected for its natural beauty and originality.
Barbara Harris was educated in Switzerland and later at the Parsons School of Design In New York. She started her career in New York in Fashion. In 1993 Barbara moved to Asia and became Design Director for Elle and also consulted to the creation of maverick Chinese fashion brand, Shanghai Tang. She decided to return to her love of jewellery in 1997 and moved to London to set up her design studio. A year later, in 1998 her first collection was launched.
Since then Barbara has created a collection that draws a following all around the world. Recent clients include Jodie Kidd, Kate Moss, Bette Midler, The Princess Royal of Thailand and Princess Caroline of Monaco; pieces from the collection have often been seen on the red carpet come Oscar season. This word of mouth, intimate brand shines regularly on the pages of the Financial Times and Vogue.
