Designers: KOKKU

KOKKU is a new brand launched in Summer 2010 by Andrea and Ansula Usai, a husband & wife team. Early this year, they took a bold step to put their careers to one side and dedicate their energies in a new business venture. KOKKU was born with the vision to preserve traditional craftsmanship by giving it a new life and bringing it into the modern world.

Ansula has a mixed heritage, German mother and Sri Lankan father, and comes from a generation of architects and designers. Andrea is Sardinian and has had a successful career for over 10 years in the luxury travel business. He has a strong passion for preserving traditional crafts and those from Sardinia are naturally close to his heart.

KOKKU aims to bring artisans alive by international exposure within an ethical marketplace, where their designs and fine workmanship will have a platform for world-wide recognition.

The first series of collections is focused on Filigree Jewellery from Sardinia. This range is a mystic and sacred collection of rare Sardinian jewellery that is both memorable and unique.

Andrea & Ansula are meticulous in their selection of the very best Sardinian artisans. Specialists in filigree jewellery, they are all handpicked to make these unique series’ of collections: Le Signorine, Nuvola, Charms and more.

For Andrea and Ansula, certain pieces from the collections resonate on a personal level. They evoke memories and key moments in their lives, such as their engagement and the birth of their son. All these pieces hold meaning for them, and it is their personal investment in their work which they hope will resonate with others.
